Things I have to live with for the next few days
An acquaintance once told me: I'm not going to ask you if you're happy with this, in going to ask if u can live with it.
And so, when I am faced with undesirable situations, I try to see if I can live with em, or not.. And evaluate the situation accordingly.
Things I don't like, but have to live with for the time being include:
- my body having a mind of its own, not responding to any kind of sedative.. And staying up for hours, or has it been days?
- freak attacks, so not me.. But there u go.
- acting, like everything is ok.. And being all frilly about it (couldn't find a more appropriate word.. Think decorative in a deceiving manner)
- isolating myself from certain people (until I tend to my own business and get things sorted out)
- dealing with that heart-achy-feeling which comes and goes.
- not going to the gym, or the beach, or shopping!
So no, I am not happy about the way things are. But can I live with it? You bet.
- to sunday xx

Overcoming addiction
I came across some of my notes which struck me as interesting (in the context of my current life status)
Thought u might find it interesting too..
The stages of change: (the transtheoretical model)
1. Precontemplation (u don't think anything needs to change)
2. Contemplation (u notice the problem, and play with the idea of change)
3. Preparation (taking the first step, or planning on it.. Seriously)
4. Action (change, modification, commitment)
5. Maintenance (sticking to the new you, preventing relapse*, takes up to 6 months on average)
* relapse (going back to ur comforting habits)
- to ownership, commitment, and results xx

Never put all ur eggs in one basket
Diversification:
1.
a. To give variety to; vary: diversify a menu.
b. To extend (business activities) into disparate fields.
2. To distribute (investments) among different companies or securities in order to limit losses in the event of a fall in a particular market or industry.
- to diversity, and sedated nights xx

10 reasons you should drink coffee
10. Instant mood lifter and energy booster
9. The aroma, heavenly
8. The variety (dry/wet latte, cino, on the rocks, ice shaken, vanilla, mocha.. Etc).
7. The after taste.
6. The addiction (always a good thing, especially if u have an addictive personality.. Better coffee than something destructive).
5. U can blame insomnia, mood swings and headaches on it, PMS is soo passe.
4. A reason to get up in the morning, gives ur day the jump start it needs.
3. Common conversation topic with really hot people xD
2. Its the new antioxidant.
1. Finally.. Research suggests that coffee could possibly protect against diabetes (which is on the rise globally), parkinsons and colon cancer.
Need I say more?

Cough cough!
I have noticed recently, that everyone around me has picked up some sort of allergy.. Be it itchy eyes, runny nose, persistent cough, inflamed gums or ears.. Everything seems to have flared, and its NOT seasonal, its happening all year round. I see them in the clinics, I hear people complaining about them at the gym, and I see it everywhere..
So I was going to work, at an in humanely early hour (don't get me started) and I noticed this layer of dust?dirt?fumes? Covering shk zayed road, it was Black, mind the rotten phone cam.. But it was horrific!
One should only wonder if the rate of industrial growth is worth the health risks, and costs both to the community and individuals!
- to a healthy environment, sans pollution!

Comforting?
I'm hyperventilating all over the place. Robert Frost once said that the reason why worry kills more people than work, is that more people worry than work! And I have become a living example of this quote.

F/W Round-Up
I am loving my brights this spring, but some fall runways literally had me craving the sophisticated shades of winter. Here are some of the looks i fell in love with from Paris and Milan: bows, volume, chunky accessories and footwear with a twist.
** photo's from style.com **
- to summer brights, waiting lists and a sophisticated week ahead! xx
60's glam by Dior, think volume all the way
Elie Saab: bows, frills and volume
Chloe embellished footwear
Balenciaga: fierce, cat eyes and pointy heels
Chanel's must-have stockings
Gucci goes "babushka"
Hermès d'orient
Chunky layers from Givenchy

Such is life
I want you to work with me on this one, visualise.. Close ur eyes if u have to.
Imagine the feeling u get when the first rays of sunshine hit u after a long grey winter, how deliciously comforting the long-craved heat is.. How good it feels when it warms ur skin and surrounds u..
Just like a hug, perhaps?
Now imagine walking on a beach (still sunny and warm) and feeling the soft grains of sand underneath ur feet.. absorbing every ounce of stress, relieving every aching muscle as it touches ur bare soles..
Just like a foot rub, perhaps?
Hold onto that thought for a while, feel the warm embrace of the sun, step on the soothing sand.. And add onto that vision if u wish, until u visualise total bliss..
Imagine now, a gush of wind, cold and fierce, hitting u in the face, sending chills down ur spine and giving u goose bumps every time it hits u..
Just like a dentist would, perhaps?
Now tell me..
How can u bask in sunlight, if its still windy out there?
- to eternal sunshine xx
------------
A very personal note:
(It was never my intention to hurt u, u still mean the world to me, and that will not change; no matter how stormy it gets out there)

She's leaving!
I remember the first time she had her hands on my oh-so-cherished locks, how my glares made her hands tremble, she knew that all she had was that first blow dry.. And she totally rocked it.
And after that.. We were a match made in hairstyle-heaven..
She was there for me during my colour craze a la fushia streaks (ugh yes it wasn't all good, but she didn't judge xD), during my blonde phase and my auburn phase, in braids and waves.. She saw me going bridallistic all over the place, gave me the fake bob of my dreams..
She was there through big curls and sleek do's.. Through highs and lows.. Lights that is..
And now, she's leaving, oh my tresses how do I comfort thee!
- to finding another elaina :(

Joie de Vivre
I find joy in colour, in a good laugh, in aromatic coffee, in shoes <3, in Paris, in a warm hug after a long day of work, in the smile of a patient.. in white sandy beaches and pasta..
Today.. i decided to dwell in everything around me... to enjoy it to bits.. and to live like there is no tomorrow..
- to joy xx
