The Quirks

I got tagged by Nyxxie.. and there were a buncha rules, but i REALLY can't copy paste the whole thing :P (sorry?)

So here goes:

1. I need complete and utter darkness in order to fall asleep, sometimes a blinking light from my laptop or the AC could wake me up.

2. I throw fits at the sight of anything crawling around.

3. I can fly a plane, but can't drive a car.

4. I have a bracelet/bangles/accessories en generale fetish lol

5. I laugh at my jokes more often than i should :P lol

6. I would complain about every single joint in my body if i was given an opportunity to do so :P

And those are my quirks, i'm sure my friends can come up with much more.. XD

I tag whoever finds this interesting.. And please remember.. It is our quirks and twists which make us special ;)

So this came up today

We were hanging out in our new spot de la semaine, Paul (since they stocked up on macaroons again) and my friend went like " bloggers just don't have enough going on in their lives, they seek validation through their blogs"

Well, this is not how she put it, but it rounds it up.

Now my friend doesn't know about this place, very few do.

I wasn't quite sure if I should jump in all defensive or nod knowingly.. It was brunch after all, and I hate arguing so early in the day..

She did get me thinking though, why did I start blogging? What is it that I was looking for?

Why do u guys blog?

Do tell! xx

Grocery shopping

I am currently being held hostage at the grocery store with my obsessive compulsive friend who is getting stuff for her annual clean up or something of the sorts.

There is nothing I hate more than supermarkets, i mean it takes alot to drag me here.. i NEVER GO GROCERY SHOPPING (unless its to get mags or gum or what not)

My feet are aching and my back is sore, and I'm whining like a *****

I am now ignoring her by stuffing my face into the berry and blogging, it beats answering to: "tide wla clorox, natural wla butter, towels wla sponges" etf*ingc!

To hot soothing foot baths and chilling at home! Soon!

How old is too young?

"I just can't do it" she kept repeating, she went on and on about it; "There's something stopping me from going ahead, and I don't know what it is, but I cannot over come it"

I looked at her, momentarily at a loss, trying to match the words with the gorgeous juvenile face it came out off.

" I can't sleep, its too hard to think or do anything, I have no appetite.. Doctor, its too strong, there is nothing you can do to make it go away"

Usually, dealing with adults who are cynical, hopeless, depressed, or suicidal (in some cases).. Is hard.. But when such strong feelings come from a child, it gets to you.. And its by far, harder.

How is it that a 13 year old can tell u (with no doubt) that there is nothing u can do, or say, no medicine you could prescribe to make her better.
And no, it wasn't a tantrum, or a teenager being stubborn, it was out of complete loss of hope.

I looked at her charts, she was on all the right meds.
I started explaining her condition again, trying to stick with the facts, steering away from emotions.

Sometimes, I tend to do that.

It wasn't the eerie calm tone, but the strength behind the weakness that got to me.

It was uncanny.

I'm not sure I dealt with it as I would have wanted to, but its the best I could muster given the situation.

I do hope something, or someone will give that girl whatever she needs to regain trust, and hope in life.

I spy a lil white lie

People lie.

Its not always bad though.

I wonder if there is a certain, agreed-on amount of connivery that's acceptable.. Just so u get by?

People generally have a hidden agenda somewhere, and would try to manipulate the situation to get there. And no matter how trivial it can be.. Its still cheating.. Isn't it?

Once u keep ur motives hidden, then ur abusing trust..

But it does happen.

So should we just assume that everyone is conniving until proven otherwise? And if so, is it acceptable in the larger scheme of things to conceal truth if its justifiable to do so in the eyes of the beholder? How harmful is it.. Really? And would u waste time and effort to get down to what's hidden deep?

Day II in where-the-hell-am-i-now!

Ok.. So I found Derek after all, and no.. He wasn't Mcdreamy/steamy material.. But he did give me a tour of the place.. And was a total sweetheart!

But here I am today, still missing turns, and finding it super hard to adjust! I mean I know its how things are whenever u start working at a new place.. But its a major pain that I have to ask where whatsitcalled is, how things work, and who's face goes with what name.. All the time!

And then ofcourse, there's the medicine, the patients, the variety or cases and cultures.. The drugs (generic names vs trade names)..

It goes on.. And its all pretty overwhelming..
And I'm a nagger, so bear with me!

What's with all the new buildings?!

I am so LOST!

Literally, figuratively or whatever its called LOST.. Like for real! I start work in this new department today, and it is the most confusing place ever! Lemme explain (mind u, I'm not one to speak when it comes to directions et al) BUT this place is a maze! I'm supposed to look for the head of department (all I know is that his name is Derek) so I'm walking around (in circles, I'm sure) asking everyone in a labcoat ( are u dr derek??!) And not only is it retarded and so fucked up, but I'm starting to feel like a complete amature and a pain to all the nurses who keep shrugging "he's around" wtf is around and WHERE is around? Cuz I tell u, I've been all around! And unless there's a whole basement level I'm missing THERE is no place I haven't looked!!

Its been an hour alreaDY!!

Oh Derek where art thoU!! :@

SATC premiers in London!

It was "frowned upon" that a movie based in NYC should premier in the UK, when asked SJP said " we think of New York as the exclamation point at the end of a sentence, and will bring the show there last" Her dress was Alexander Mcqueen, and the hat.. well that's just a whole different story..

The movie is supposed to be out by May 30th world wide.. however, I am not sure when and if it will show in Dubai, and the middle east.

I have been waiting for this movie for so long i've got a counter on facebook just for when the movie hits theaters! xD so yes i am excited its almost out, but i have seen some spoiler shots and the hat fits in with the whole "taking risks" and "pushing it out there" wardrobe.. not quite sure it works off the runways though!

Diagnose, then perscribe.

In medicine, we take a thorough history, conduct examinations, and order labs to come up with a diagnosis, only then do we prescribe meds and give advice.

If we would take this concept and incorporate it into our lives, we can certainly benefit from it! How so? Lemme give u an example..

When we communicate we tend to talk (rather than listen), and even when we do listen, we are just preparing- in our heads- to reply to whatever the other person is saying.. (And nodding throughout? ;) )

The thing is, we do not listen half the time, so we end up not being on the same page, or going around in circles.. Not getting anywhere.

So, and as covey puts it: seek first to understand, and then to be understood.

In other words.. Diagnose, before u prescribe ;)

- to active listening (as hard as it is, for me xD) xxx
