I'm getting ready for a girls night out and I just HAVE to tell u girls this: chanel's latest brillant levres Aqualumiere lipgloss rocks. I tried it in every shade and its just amazing. Its non sticky, super light and leaves u with the glossiest lips ever! My personal fave is "glass quartz" .
I got to see "The dark night".. And we all know that its the joker who stole batman's thunder this time round with Heath Ledger's death right after shooting the movie. His performance was what made waiting in the queue, 3 days in a row and not finding seats (until TODAY) worthwhile! Every scene he played sent a chill down my spine. Rumour has it that he's getting nominated for an oscar on his role.
Plot: I must admit it was a bit confusing at the beginning, and the running time was a tad longer than what I would have liked, but over all, the story line was very entertaining.
A scene to remember: Batman and The joker go one on one.
"Maddness is like gravity, all it takes is a little push!"
"How can I then return in happy plight, That am debarr'd the benefit of rest? When day's oppression is not eased by night, But day by night, and night by day, oppress'd? And each, though enemies to either's reign, Do in consent shake hands to torture me; The one by toil, the other to complain How far I toil, still farther off from thee. I tell the day, to please them thou art bright And dost him grace when clouds do blot the heaven: So flatter I the swart-complexion'd night, When sparkling stars twire not thou gild'st the even. But day doth daily draw my sorrows longer And night doth nightly make grief's strength seem stronger."
I was reminded today of a sonnet (by a very special person *winkwink* lol), anyways.. it got me in the mood.. i like poetry.. back in day i had a passion for the works of Shakespeare, Auden, Keats and Blake.. But I guess i stopped finding the time to read.. Having said that, the sonnet i have pasted above is a beautiful piece of writing that i thought would be nice to share.. So if ur into literature.. enjoy!
I would love to see the sofa somewhere in my house, the dolls are just an eye sore, and as for the satc characters baby clothes.. i'm not sure i would want my kid to be wearing "my friends call me samantha" in leopard print! but that's just me! What do u think?
Doesn't it bother you that in situations that really matter in ur life, you can never know if the decision you made was the right one, that you cannot foresee what comes next, that there is no "standard" you can compare urself to? No ffw/rewind buttons?
Doesn't it bother you when you know in ur gut that there are things that absolutely have to be said and done, but that you cannot do anything about it for the time being? That no matter how impatient you are, there are forces stronger than you that pave your path?
Doesn't it also bother you, that sometimes.. You make big mistakes just because u did not bother to think out the consequences or were too impulsive to consider not making them?
And doesn't it bother u that u only get one chance, one lifetime, one go to make it all work? That it is up to u and only you to make ur life worthwhile?
It bothers me a lot, in fact it keeps me up all night.
Last year, mamma mia played in Dubai, it was around the time I was getting ready for my own wedding and I missed it. Everyone had told me at the time that I should go see it cuz it has such a positive vibe, that it was what I needed to ease the bridezilla thing I had going on back then lol. But I missed it.
So the movie came out this weekend, and I'm not a fan of musicals, but (I surprise myself that way) I was humming along throughout, I don't know when or how those abba hits got into my head, I just know that I found myself singing along and practically skipped out of the theatre all giggly and "my my my here I go again"-ing lol.
Most touching moment: when meryl streep sang "the winner takes it all", really got to me, and I'm sure a lot of people can relate to this and other parts of the musical. Very romantic a la aphrodite.
Most awkward scene: anything with Pierce Brosnan singing in it. It just did not work for me.
End result: I was left craving an island retreat, exotic drinks and flowy sundresses. And ofcourse, to be swaying with love like the love struck sofie and her fiance.
- to catchy tunes, and an easy breezy attitude! xx
To say that you can boil an egg on the highway is the understatement of the year! The heat is unbearable, and all it takes is a few steps from the car to whatever shop/mall ur heading to, to drain all ur shop-power (from willpower) the point is.. I started off the day thinking: "So i have the morning off, what better opportunity to shop before the weekend starts and the shops flood with tourists and everyone else" Right? WRONG!
First things first, the heat, the humidity and the fact that everything is on sale are all shopping turn offs. Secondly, i have decided to shop for .. not shoes, not clothes (or cardigans lol), but for BOOKS! yes.. i will spend my summertime IN, sipping my home-made virgin (mais bien sur) mojitos/margaritas , nibbling on home baked cupcakes and reading..
Here are some things i picked up from the book store today:
I call this Research, but those mini urban guides make great coffee table books, and conversations starters too!
A Book For Me (recommended by the fabulous Mi ) and a book for the hubby!
Might start baking too!
check out this super funky note book by Khalid Mesaina, tres original! I'm gonna jot down those random ideas/to dos here this summer!
Ever since prefall came out I have been shopping for cardigans like they would sell out or something, my pursuit for them has taken an obsessive grip over every shopping spree!
Having skimmed the shops, I recommend Anna sui.. She puts a spin on cardigans and they end up looking less of "what my mom would wear" and more casual chic.
Also, cardigans get longer next season.. Think knee length, slim, belted (or swung open), and light weight a la Stell Mccartney and Elizabeth and James!
Perfect for summer vacay if u need to cover up!
I think now (post 4 black cardigans, one yellow, 2 white, one hot pink and one grey) I can say that I am ALL shopped out, although I am eyeing the 2 coloured Marc by mj.. But it won't hit stores anytime soon, so I'm good!
Or maybe i should call it "Thinker's Block" my brain has officially gone on summer break mode, and there is nothing i can do about it. And since everyone i know is traveling in a week or so, I have decided to dedicate the next few weeks for me, myself and I.
I will definitely blog as soon as i have something substantial to blog about, and once my dry spell a la thoughts gets better!
I know most of you have already traveled or are one step away from ur summer destinations.. So savour every moment and make the best out of it!
In our world, people tend to suck up. "Idhan saira" or butter him up is a very common and definite way of getting what you want, and getting where you want.
There are so many shortcuts, so many steps you can jump if you chose to take that path.
However, there comes a person so righteous, someone who makes u believe that if you do everything right, the way its meant to be, then it is only a matter of time before you get what you deserve.
My dad has this sense of right and wrong, ever since I was a kid I remember him instilling the importance of black and white.. It is his strict adherence to what is morally, religiously and socially right that was a constant in our lives.
I am not saying that I have half his self-righteousness, I am a rebel by all means, but him doing the right things right, always gave us this sense of security.
Today, however, I have learnt that in a corrupt society, people who take the right path hardly ever get dealt a good hand. Today I have also learnt that the path less taken is not only the hardest, but can lead to a dead end.
"We are fighters, we do not break", is what I told my brother when he gave me the news, and what I would have told my father had I been given the chance.
- to my family, I love you, and I will always always be there for u. x

Did you know that adult crushes happen all the time? That it is perfectly normal to swoon over a complete stranger just to get that ego-boost a la blast from the past? And that (just like when we were teenagers) a crush can keep you smiling all day long XD
When was the last time any of you had a crush? And i don't mean the "oh he's hot" kinda thing, i mean a full blown "OMGOMG HE JUST PASSED BY" kinda crush lol
And what is the single wow factor that would get you each and every time?
