The Epiphany

In an imperfect world, we seek perfection, our expectations soar, when reality is really far from perfect. And so we get disappointed, and with disappointment comes resentment and we end up feeling unhappy.

And with that, we try to change the situation, to what we perceive as our utopia, and when we fail.. The dissatisfaction cycle goes on.

What a vicious cycle it is.

And then I read this:

When we are no longer able to change a situation - we are challenged to change ourselves.

(Victor E. Frankl)

And I decided to stop trying to make my life fit into this frame I have painted in my head, that in order for me to be really happy, I need to change ME, the way I see things, the way I deal with them, and try to make do, to settle.

- to a smooth road ahead xx

Nature itself requires us to adapt to whatever changes happen around us. It's easier and more fulfilling that way. However, come to think about it, wouldn't you lose your original identity in the process of changing to the situations around you? That's the downside I guess.

Eutopia? why not settle for something a little less?!! why do we have to swing from extreme ends --

ruby woo: It certainly is the downside, but that's the thing about life.. its all about compromise.

couturecarrie: thank you!

f7ee7eely: I guess its human nature to look for the best.. but then again.. to each his own.

We envision in our minds what we think we want and after some time we realize either its not working or that we dont want that anymore...the hardest thing is questioning your initial judgement because at that point its all that you knew, what to live for..be it a dream a goal or a simple desire...its a rude awakening when you realize that youre on new ground and that you have to take each day as it comes because literally you dont know what tomorrow will bring and the fact that our sheer willpower is not as invincible as we may have thought.

I couldn't have put it any better pc.. and that is when "changing from within" comes in.. or "adjusting ur views" if i may say..

You always put everything so beautifully F.B
Its just such a real eye opening bummer about 'the change within and the adjustment of views'...I guess thats where the deep quote you posted makes sense 'We are challenged...'
Idealistic independent free spirits in this realm become truly challenged.
Thank you for posting thought provoking musings everyday..its my soul food xx

We're just a little stubborn to accepting change, clay keeps changing all the time.
