Chanel apres COCO!

Since I won't be seeing "coco avant chanel" anytime soon..I thought I would check out Lagerfeld Confidential. A documentary that was out in 2007 on the legendary designer com photographer com marketing genius! You get an inside look at his life.. his place, his rings, collars and ipods and ofcourse.. his iconic black shades.. "Je ne veux pas être une réalité dans la vie des autres" he says.."je veux être comme une apparition" (I don't want to be a reality in people's lives, i want to be an appearance)

Delice-ious

Delice opened in the Dubai Mall one month ago but had a fabulous grand opening yesterday morning. The place looks almost as yummy as their macaroons are, and they have the cutest assortments of everything sweet..

If, like me, you have a weakness for anything pistachio, then you should definitely get their pistachio drink.. I loved it!

Officially the freshest macaroons I had in Dubai to date.

The closest I will ever get to flying again

Dinner in the sky (my bday plan, that got canceled because of our vvvv crappy weather) is a 4 course meal served over 2 hours, 50 meters in the sky. If 2 hours is too long for ur taste, you can choose to "chill in the sky" instead for 30 mins and snack on tea sandwiches, scones and coffee.

On turning 27

I love the number 27. Its my favourite number in the whole wide world :P So I'm hoping this year is going to be a good one inshalla xD

I sat here for some time, trying to think of what it is i would like to say in this post.. I usually have meaningful things to say on birthdays u see...

But all I came up with, is that I am clueless.. more so than ever. There are no answers, only more questions.. each day, every year.. life throws one big question after the other your way..

I think part of finding ones self has alot to do with being at peace with the fact that you don't necessarily need to have all the answers.. and with that knowledge comes strength, growth and maturity...

27 years have taught me that.


On another note, Jackie O is a Taurean too.. so there u go xD

Eye spy..

I used to swear by Chanel's gentle biphase eye makeup remover, I have very sensitive eyes and need my eye makeup remover to get rid off all the black kohl or mascara remnants, but not irritate my eyes or lashes.

A few days ago I stumbled over No.7 cleanse and care eye makeup remover at Boots which has a similar double action liquid and works magically.


A very worthy credit friendly opponent. Try it out!

More than just a hot cup of cocoa!

Mastro cafe is a new coffee shop which opened in the Dubai Healthcare City a few months ago. I used to go there and study because they have a glass roof and the lighting is just perfect, and they serve italian coffee :)

A few days ago, they put up a sign with all the different cups of hot chocolate served there.. and the variety is endless! from traditional dark chocolate, to hazelnut and bananas.. to caramel and white chocolate.. how can one resist?

I tried the hazelnut cocoa and thought it was too sweet for my taste, but delightful none the less :)

Grey's garden is based on the life stories of the eccentric aunt and first cousin of Jackie O (both named Edith Bouvier Beale aka "Big and Little Edie"). A remake of the 1975 documentary which premiers sat the 18th on HBO.

Givenchy opened in the dubai mall 3 days ago, with Lanvin next doors set to open in the coming weeks!

The fashion avenue is looking better than ever with fendi, gucci and chanel (chanel is spectacular) to name a few of the newly opened boutiques!

From Napoli to Dubai

The new Italian joint Fratelli La Bufala (located in Arabian Plaza) is based on traditional Neapolitan farmland cuisine with a specialty in buffalo cheeses and meats. They have 20 branches all over the world, all of which are named on the tables (as shown above :P) I tried the risotto (as part of our quest to find the perfect risotto in Dubai) and it did not disappoint. The waiters greeted us with a Bona Sera and felt comfortable changing the order into a risotto milanese (which was not on the menu). The coffee was good too.

We did not try the pizza which is supposed to "mirror the rich tradition of Neapolitan pizza that dates back to the 17th century". Maybe next time :)

Duplicity

Yet another spy movie that was in theaters for some time now, we decided to check it out cuz nothing else looked better.

I give it a 7.


Why I liked it: the Julia Roberts factor, the chemistry between both spies and the fact that u really had to focus in order to get it lol.


Why its not an 8: there's a lot going on, scenes from the past jump into the present in a confusing manner. One of the girls kept asking "so now what's going on?" Its not something u want during a movie.


Liked the ending though.
